Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”–John 11:25-26
Since the Boston Marathon bombing and other tragic events lately, I have heard people become more anxious about life and our fragile mortality. The good news is that Jesus says that when we believe in him, when we die we actually live. So death is not the end but literally the beginning of everlasting life. In this we can have rest for this life and hope for the next!
After discovering the Gluten-Free Meyer Lemon Mug Cake on All Day I Dream About Food, I found some other great recipes too. I can’t wait to try her Low Carb and Gluten-Free Brie, Ham and Green Apple Panini and I think I would really like the Flourless Chocolate Torte too! I don’t know about all that Swerve Sweetener (I swear there is a new kind of sweetener every day) in the recipes, so I would probably substitute that with something else. Do you know what Swerve Sweetener is and if it is natural and good for you?
I made a batch of Gabby’s Gluten Free Paleo Apple Bread Pudding Muffins this week for breakfast/snacks, and they were deelicious!! The directions said to bake them for 30-35 minutes, and I only baked them for 30 minutes which I think was too little time. They were super moist and a little under-baked, but still very good, full of cinnamon and apple flavor, and didn’t hurt my stomach at all. I would definitely make these again. That’s my lunch below with the muffin fitting perfectly into my divided plastic container. I topped that one with unsweetened coconut shreds. It was my dessert.
Last week, Neenah, Jess and I went to a Macklemore-themed Pure Barre class on Friday night. The class was taught by Kisha, one of two of Macklemore’s backup dancers (you know Macklemore if you know the song Thrift Shop). The class was $15, which is cheaper than the usual $23 drop-in fee, AND it was “Happy Hour” so there were complimentary mimosas before and after class. I didn’t bring any water so I had to have a mimosa to rehydrate instead.
It was super challenging as usual, but it wasn’t as dancy as I was expecting. In barre class you do tiny isometric-like movements with bands and toothpick-like weights, which usually I laugh at, but this time I was being laughed at. I can’t hold a wall sit for the life of me and when you have to “tuck, tuck, tuck” for 5 minutes of a wall-sit with a band around your legs, you are ready for the class to be over real fast.
When the class was over, we headed to the Thaiger Room on the Ave to meet up with the guys. And then once Neenah discovered that I have never had Bubble Tea, we went to WOW (apparently the best place for Bubble Tea), and Mattox and I shared a mondo portion of the Taro Pudding. They only sell mondo portions or else I would have bought a small because I was so full from the Thai food.
Would I go back to Barre? Sure! It was a fun thing to do on a Friday night with friends, but it would get pretty expensive doing that several times a week. I’d rather get paid to workout and teach a class or train someone instead of paying hundreds of dollars to “tuck” for an hour.
Have you been to Lululemon lately? They have a lot more things on sale now. Including a pair of cropped pants that my sweet husband and his mom bought me for $30. They are this color but they flared out at the bottom and since I’m so short they stopped at my ankles and were more like highwater pants. Not very flattering.
I took them into the store and dropped them off so they could hem them for FREE! They didn’t even need my receipt. Now they fit perfectly and I love them. Other stores like Athleta do hemming for free as well. Do you know of any others? I tend to find these secret things out too late in life.
